ME Advocacy
Myalgic encephalomyelitis is a neuroimmune disease that causes chronic, debilitating pain, greater susceptibility to fatal cancers and heart failure, cognitive impairment, crushing fatigue that isn’t relieved by rest, and a host of other unpleasant symptoms. It’s more commonly known in the United States as “chronic fatigue syndrome,” which is a stupid name for a disease that can kill you.
In 2005, Cinder Bridge recorded “Everybody Knows About Me,” inspired by the experiences of someone who has the disease. The response was overwhelmingly positive. A few years later the song was used in an awareness-raising video by foggygyrl, a member of the ME community.
There’s no cure for ME, and little in the way of treatment. If you’d like to help, please donate to the Open Medicine Foundation or #MEAction.
